$15 Million in Improvements

15 Million in Mountain Improvements

Resort officials announce $15 million in improvements across five mountains: Purgatory Resort, Arizona Snowbowl, Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, Pajarito Mountain and Hesperus Ski Area, plus Colorado’s largest cat skiing operation, Purgatory Snowcat Adventures. The Southwest’s largest ski area collective is investing $15 million in mountain improvements for the 2017-2018 ski and snowboard season, for a grand total of $35 million over three consecutive seasons.

Enjoy the improvements across all five resorts—new trails, enhanced snowmaking, new summer activities, and more—on a single season pass: the Power Pass. The Most Powerful Pass in the Southwest is on sale right now.

Purgatory Improvements

mountain coaster iconMore Summer Fun
We’re building a 4,000 foot-long mountain coaster that will operate during future summer and winter seasons. This summer, we’ve added a new summer tubing area and a 50′ x 50′ airbag jump from a platform, both located in the Columbine area.

Snowmaking Infrastructure
New snowmaking equipment is being purchased to improve the resort’s ability to make snow and open the resort more efficiently, including additional pumping capacity, pipe, electric and additional energy efficient snow guns.

Expanded Terrain & New Loading Zone
Purgatory is expanding its terrain with new intermediate and expert trails on the back- and front-sides, and new gladed tree skiing terrain. The triple chairlift, Needles Lift 6, will offer a new mid-way loading zone that provides ski teams, terrain park fanatics, and  skiers/riders who want to make laps on the front an easier way to access terrain.

Purgatory Snowcat Adventures

New Base Area Dining
The new restaurant at Snowbowl’s base area offers 300 indoor seats, plus a patio complete with a fire pit—perfect for après ski! Located beside the Sunset Chairlift and near the Grand Canyon Express, enjoy ski-in, ski-out access to this fresh dining alternative. New slopeside bathrooms will be added, as well.
