Vehicle Maintenance Manager (Year Round)
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Service and repair equipment.
- Manage staff of one foreman and approximately four to six mechanics on a daily basis. Responsible for all aspects of performance management and employee development including: interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, salary increases, promotions/transfers, education and terminations.
- Responsible for development and management of department operating budget, capital expenditures and equipment leases and purchases. Conduct vehicle/equipment business within budget parameters.
- Prescribe effective maintenance/repair procedures and standards for all equipment and ensure they are met.
- Maintain inventory of equipment as to condition, maintenance status, and assignment.
- Recommend replacement schedules for vehicles and equipment to the executive team for approval.
- Shop, order and process for necessary parts, supplies and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable agencies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Understands the Employee Handbook, Management Guidelines, and supports company policies
- Participate in group work effort and perform independent repair projects.
- Implement tracking systems to provide summary data illustrating maintenance effort, maintenance effectiveness, vehicle type effectiveness, and other indicators for efficient long-term corporate planning.
- Act as key operator in acquisition of future equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Expert knowledge of equipment inventory and operational procedures. Expert mechanical, electrical, and tools and machinery knowledge. Solid accounting skills. Expert interpersonal and supervisory skills. Alertness, precision, concentration, memory, creativity, judgment, patience, persuasiveness, problem solving, reasoning, and auditory, tactile and visual discrimination necessary.
Special Certifications/Licensing: Valid Colorado Driver's License
Education or Formal Training: Minimum 2 years college or 2 years vocational training.
Experience: Previous ski area experience with an emphasis on the service and maintenance of snowmobiles, Prinoth grooming equipment and Caterpillar heavy equipment including loader, backhoe, skidder and dozer. Previous management/supervisory experience required.
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Trucks, vans, buses, heavy maintenance equipment, grooming equipment, snowmobiles, steam cleaner, hand tools, air tools, electric grinders, drill press, ac/dc welder, lubricants and solvent tank.
Working Environment/ Physical Activities:
60% of the work day is spent indoors and 40% is spent outdoors in constantly changing weather conditions including icy and wet conditions with oil slicks present. 75% of the work day is spent walking. Occasionally lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds, carrying objects up to 30 pounds, and occasionally pushing disabled vehicles weighing up to 2000 pounds. Occasionally handling the controls for equipment operation. Working conditions and potential hazards include high amperage/high voltage electrical, welding flash, noxious fumes, and petroleum distillates. Noise levels reach 60-110 decibels for up to 80% of the workday.
Frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, fingering, and feeling objects. Occasionally climbing, balancing, and crawling. Constantly handling objects. Near and far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, and field of vision necessary. This is a non-skiing position.
