Make Purgatory your home base, and adventure out into the magnificent San Juan Mountains in your private Jeep rental from Colorado Outback Adventures. Travel to forgotten ghost towns, gold mines, waterfalls, and spectacular scenery on the area’s nearby off-road trails.
Available May 1 through October 15, pending trail conditions. Colorado Outback Adventures offer the newest Jeeps in the area and their team is available to help you get the most out of your backcountry adventure! All of their Jeep rentals include a free trail map and personalized trail recommendations from a trip consultant if desired.
NOTE: Colorado Outback Adventures does not allow their Jeeps on Black Bear Pass or Poughkeepsie Gulch. No pets or smoking in rental Jeeps.
UTV/RZR Tours & Rentals
Take on Durango’s backcountry and go where few others can, with the help of an ATV, RZR or UTV rental from Colorado Outback Adventures! Whether it’s just you and a friend, or the whole family, you’ll find the perfect rental for your group to get out and enjoy an unforgettable day amid breathtaking scenery.
Colorado Outback Adventures provides maps and will help you plan your trip. Plus, they can track your rental with their state-of-the-art GPS trackers, so if you run into trouble, they’ll be there in no time.
All trails leave directly from Purgatory Resort no trailers are necessary. All rentals must operate under strict Stay the Trail and Leave No Trace principles. Rentals book out fast, reserve yours ASAP!

The fine print
- Participants must be at least 21 years old to operate one of our UTVs/RZRs/ATVs and at least 25 years old to drive one of our Jeeps. UTV/RZR/ATV passengers must be at least 5 years old.
- Closed-toe footwear is recommended.
- All summer activities at Purgatory Resort are weather permitting.
