Fort Lewis College

At the Center of the Southwest

From alpine summits to red rock canyons, ski resorts to cattle ranches, Durango, Colorado is much more than a ski town or mountain biking destination. It’s at the confluence of all things Southwest, nestled between Native American communities, and positioned for outdoor enthusiasts to launch on mountain, canyon, and river adventures. And Fort Lewis College (FLC) is the cultural and intellectual hub at the center of it all.

FLC’s core is its academics, built around small classes, original research by undergraduate students, and faculty who are committed to the art of teaching and mentorship. At the heart of student life you’ll find a community as active in the outdoors as they are committed to building a better world. You’ll also discover one of the most culturally diverse college campuses in the nation.

Serving the region, FLC hosts cultural and performing arts events on campus, leads heritage preservation at the Center of Southwest Studies, and tackles regional issues such as water resources and rural small business development.
