We can’t wait to see everyone having fun on the mountain again and enjoying the cool, fresh air of the San Juans.
We’ll have all of your classic favorites: the alpine slide, the mountain coaster, scenic rides, treasure panning, twilight lake, and the highly anticipated return of the Purgatory Bike Park!

While we are very excited to welcome everyone back to the bike park, operations will temporarily look different.
We are nearing completion of the modernization and upgrades to Lift 1. We have done a complete overhaul on the internal systems to ensure a longer, smoother operation of the lift for years to come. This is a major project, and we couldn’t be more proud of our team as they near the finish line. While we were very close to completion for our opening day deadline, we still need a little bit more time to complete the end stages of this overhaul. This will mean for our opening weekend, we will temporarily be offering lift access to the bike park via Lift 4.
What will Bike Park Operations look like?
If you have not joined us for Bike Park operations using lift 4, there are a few things that will be slightly different from operations on Lift 1, and other detachable lifts that feature bike trays. These differences will be temporary, as we are aiming for completion of the Lift 1 modernization as soon as possible, so full operations off of lift 1 can begin.
If we are able to complete this project sooner, and begin operations this weekend, we are committed to doing so.
Expect a slightly slower lift ride.
Lift 4 will also be operating as it normally does for the alpine slide & scenic chairlift, which may result in slightly extended wait times for loading, as well as a longer ride up the lift than you would experience on Lift 1.
Due to the extended ride on Lift 4, there may be delays caused by incoming storms to ensure guests are not on the lift with lightning in the vicinity. Please be respectful to staff if they hold operations, as it is for your safety and comfort.
Our staff will load your bike on a chair ahead of you, using a two rope system.
This means we will have a 35lb weight limit on bikes that will be able to be accommodated, and E-Bikes will not be able to load lift 4 at this time.
Please be aware that while your bike will be safely secured, it may move around more than you are used to. This may result in minor cosmetic abrasions to the frame.
Available Trails
From the top of lift 4 you will be able to ride the lower half of the bike park, with a variety of DH trails from beginner to intermediate that include:
Lower Shangri-la, Diggler, Divinity, Last Chance, and Jump line. Our uphill trail, World Champs XC, will be open, as well as our backside cross country trails.
The upper half of the park, which includes Pirate, Links, World Cup, 7th Heaven, and Upper Shang, will be closed until Lift 1 is operational. Shuttling is not permitted at any time.
All use of the Purgatory Bike Park will require a day ticket or season pass, regardless of your method of ascent. Shuttling is not permitted at any time. Shuttling, use of closed trails, or attempting to ride the park without a pass or ticket, will result in suspension from the bike park and/or the loss of your season pass.
We’ll see you on the Mountain,
The Purgatory Team
