Summer is right around the corner with the energy at Purgatory is heating up with the rising temperatures. This summer we have a full lineup of events, including our first Total Archery Challenge, as well as many returning favorites like Carve Wars and Oktoberfest. Visitors can also expect live music throughout the summer in addition to resort activities and events. Whether you’re here for the alpine slide, a scenic chairlift ride, or just catching up with friends in the base area “beach”, there’s plenty to look forward to.
At the same time, we’re making the most of the off-season by investing more than $6 million in capital improvements across the resort. Some of these projects are the kind you may never notice – but they keep the mountain running smoothly. Others are a little more exciting and will make a real difference the next time you visit.
A few highlights:
- Gelande Lift Installation: Our biggest and most ambitious project this summer is installing a new triple chair from the Gelande parking lot to the top of the mountain and opening up some new expert terrain.
- Snowmaking: The latest big update – snowmaking will be extended to the bottom of Legends Express (Lift 8). Now the lower pitches of Ray’s Ridge, Blackburn’s Bash, and Legends Bypass will have snowmaking coverage.
- Alpine Slide Upgrades: We’re replacing infrastructure on the alpine slide to keep the ride fast, smooth, and ready for more laps.
- HD Streaming Cameras: New HD cameras around the resort will give you real-time views of conditions and what’s happening on the mountain, whether you’re checking from town or planning your stay.
- WiFi Upgrades: We’re expanding and improving WiFi coverage across the resort, including stronger, more reliable service in the base area and public spaces. Whether you’re sharing photos, checking the weather, or staying connected, it’ll be easier than ever.
- Purgatory App Improvements: The Purg app is also getting a refresh, with enhanced maps and features to make it easier to navigate the mountain and connect with the activities, dining, and events you care about most.
- Paradise Pizzeria Refresh: A fresh new look, so your pre- or post-adventure slice and beverage will taste even better.
- Trail and Tree Run Summer Grooming: Our team will continue brush clearing and hazard tree removal across the mountain, improving the ski experience for next winter.
Of course, that’s just scratching the surface. Behind the scenes, we’re also upgrading the snowcat and vehicle fleet, replacing ski/board rental equipment with new HEAD gear, enhancing guest service facilities, and checking off a long list of essential infrastructure projects.
