On the last day of 2025, with the holiday period nearing its conclusion, we wish our guests, pass holders, home owners and team members a Happy New Year. It has been a challenging start to the winter season, but despite the warm temperatures and lack of natural snowfall, we have done everything in our power to deliver as enjoyable an experience as possible since we opened back in November. Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we wait for the law of averages to swing back in our favor.
As we look forward, I am encouraged by the forecast with some snow and more cold weather returning to the San Juans. Since we refired snowmaking Saturday evening we have produced a little more than 30 acre feet of snow and we expect a modest snow event starting early New Year’s morning that should bring 3-6” of snowfall by Friday morning.
With continued snowmaking temperatures this week we should add Yellow Brick Road, Lower Pandamonium, Paradise and Cherub to expand terrain on the frontside of the mountain and offer another route to the bottom of Purgatory Express (Lift 1) to take some pressure off Lower Demon. And for the big news, thanks to the new snowmaking line installed this fall, the Legends, Legends Bypass, and Lower Ray’s trails accessing the bottom of Legends Express (Lift 8) will open as soon as this Friday (conditions permitting), along with additional intermediate trails in the Lift 8 terrain pod including Chet’s, Sally’s, Vincent’s, Joan’s Jubilee and BD&M.
Check the latest conditions on our Snow Report Page to get the latest information on our terrain and lift expansions this week.
That’s all for the last Purgspective installment for 2025. Here’s to a fabulous New Year’s Eve and a happy and joyous 2026!
We look forward to seeing you on the slopes soon!
Best regards,
Dave Rathbun
